Rev. Stephen Price, President and CEO

Stephen is pastor of 1st Baptist Church of Hyattsville Maryland USA. He is also a trained pastoral psychotherapist with over 40 years of experience working with perpetrators and victims of interpersonal and human inflicted violence and trauma.

Stephen’s first visit to Burma was to Chin State in 2019 when he taught workshops in pastoral care for Baptist pastors in Hakha and the surrounding area. Out of conversations with those pastors and church leaders came a growing awareness of the intergenerational trauma suffered by the ethnic peoples of Burma.

Kept by Covid and the junta activity from returning to Burma sooner, he spent time studying taking courses, and developing a model to deal with this trauma. Invited to return and work with both Chin and Karen refugees in 2024, he began fine tuning that model for this task.

Stephen believes that all trauma care is a conversation between the care giver and those being helped. Caregivers should be attentive and quick to respond to cultural, contextual and individual needs.

In creating Seeds of Hope and Healing he hopes that caring for those with severe human caused trauma will be an integral and lasting part of Burma’s next steps.
